IHSA Western Riders Invited to Participate in the YEDA Collegiate Celebration
YEDA is proud to announce this horse show for our collegiate friends and partners in the catch riding format. On May 13 and 14, YEDA will host a collegiate only competition for the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) schools. Open to all college students no matter what year and especially the seniors who in their final year of eligibility have an opportunity to compete one last time. YEDA has been able to navigate the last year with competitions. Unfortunately, our college partners have had their season cut short with no post season, or they have had a complete shut down of all sports. Amanda Ellis of West Texas A&M and Becky Huddleston of Tennessee Tech have lead the charge to make this happen. YEDA and IHSA stand for many of the same values, and this is a way YEDA can say thank you.
The first part of the show for the IHSA teams that were able to qualify student riders. The second part of the show will be an invitational for individuals and teams to compete in the IHSA format and classes. IHSA rules and format apply, and a complete set of guidelines for these two days are in the link below. YEDA will then host a regular season show May 15 and 16 for its youth student riders with college alumni classes. So, those college student riders can stay and compete and possibly qualify for the YEDA Nationals on June 23--26, 2021. Everyone will get the opportunity to win cool prizes and show several more times.
COLLEGE COACHES BEST OPPORTUNITY IS RIGHT HERE!
While at the Collegiate Celebration we encourage college coaches to stay for the entire time, set up a booth and recruit the newest young talent in the show ring. YEDA will bring the students, and you give them an opportunity to discuss what your college or university has to offer. We have the student riders who want to continue their riding careers and get a quality education. Connor Smith from Midway University said, "A benefit of recruiting YEDA riders is that each student has developed an understanding of how to be an integral part of an athletic team with a variety of other athletes." Take this opportunity to add experienced YEDA riders to your team. Talk to us about the College Partnership Program to bring students to you, see your facilities, tour your campus and sell them on joining your team. Details with link below.
