Media Alert: GallopNYC to Celebrate the
Life-Changing Power of Horses at the
2024 Central Park Promenade
New York, May 14, 2024 – GallopNYC is thrilled to announce the return of the GallopNYC Central Park Promenade, an inspiring event celebrating the healing power of horses and the New York City community. Taking place on Sunday, May 19, starting at 10 a.m., the Promenade will commence at Central Park West, near West 62nd Street adjacent to the Heckscher Playground.
Empowered by the collective support of our staff, volunteers, donors and participants, GallopNYC provides therapeutic experiences with horses to facilitate personal development for New Yorkers with disabilities and others who benefit from our life-changing programs. We leverage the power of horses to support people in learning new life skills and to thrive within their communities and families.
GallopNYC riders will stroll Central Park's bridle paths, accompanied by volunteers, staff and supporters. The Promenade will include an array of engaging activities, including a special reading with Joy, the miniature horse, sensory experiences, sing-a-longs and adaptive riding demonstrations, offering insight into the profound impact of therapeutic horsemanship.
Through life-improving experiences with horses, GallopNYC empowers New Yorkers with disabilities to enhance their mobility, communication and cognitive skills, helping them to lead fulfilling, productive and independent lives. Their riding programs, including Therapeutic Riding, Veterans Riding, Older Adults Programming and Hippotherapy, alongside their workforce development initiative for working-age individuals with disabilities, HERD (Harnessing Empowerment and Realizing Dreams) serve 500+ unique riders per year.
