Real Life Fairy Tale as Lafitte De Muze and Amanda Steege Win the USHJA International Hunter Derby at Lake Placid Horse Shows
Lake Placid, NY – July 13, 2021 – In a day fit for a real-life fairy tale, longtime partners Amanda Steege and Lafitte De Muze captured the top honors in the USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Eastern Hay and Purina Animal Nutrition, at Lake Placid Horse Shows.
The inspirational horse behind Big Wishes For Little Feat is no stranger to the winners' podium at Lake Placid as he and Steege have earned a championship title for three consecutive years at the event. Their 2021 Lake Placid competition was no different as the pair pinned four first-place rounds and were second only in the under saddle to capture the champion title in the High Performance Working Hunters the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) week before their derby victory.
“Lafitte and I have made it a point to compete here at Lake Placid for the past three years and have always had great success,” Steege said. “Our first year he was Champion of the First Year Green Hunters, then the Second Year Green Hunters, and now this year the High Performance Hunters.”
