NEW HOPE, Pa. – July 23, 2021 – Cheryl Olsten, owner of EQUUS Foundation Equine Ambassador Lafitte De Muze, will match donations up to $30,000 from now through the Hampton Classic last day on Sept. 5. The matching donation is in addition to Lafitte's prize winnings, a portion of which are donated to the EQUUS Foundation. The EQUUS Foundation is the only national animal welfare in the United States solely dedicated to protecting America’s horses and strengthening the bond between horses and people.
On Monday Aug. 30, during the Hampton Classic, the EQUUS Foundation will present Equine Adoption Day, sponsored by Georgina Bloomberg. Equine Adoption Day is meant to increase awareness of horses in need and to promote the welfare of America's horses. The Equine Adoption Day will showcase rescued and adoptable horses from off-the-track Thoroughbreds to mini horses.
Come to Hunter Ring 2 from noon-1 p.m. EST to meet and greet the adoptable horses. Parking and admission to the show are free on Monday, Aug. 30.
Organizations joining the EQUUS Foundation with adoptable horses this year at Hampton Classic Adoption Day will be Rising Starr Horse Rescue, Wilton, Connecticut, Storeybrook Farm, Waterbury, Vermont, Hidden Pond Farm, Brentwood, New Hampshire, and the Retired Racehorse Project, Edgewater, Maryland.
The live event will also have a virtual component featuring the adoptable horses nationwide on the EQUUS Foundation Next Chapters platform.
