Gladys, Va. ­­– March 22, 2023 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) held its Western Semi-Finals, sponsored by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), March 18-19. Hosting the events were the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, hosted by Western Area 61, Mississippi State University, hosted by Western Area 52, and at Grand Oaks, Florida, hosted by Western Area 50. Western Semi-Finals is the qualifying event to determine which Western teams and individuals will compete at the IHSA National Championship Horse Show in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, May 4-7.

Daniel Bluman Continues His Perfect Attendance Record and Wins the $10,000 FEI 1.40m Welcome Speed Class

Myakka City, Fla. – March 17, 2023 – With a field of 50 horses, the TerraNova Hunter/Jumper Week 3 $10,000 FEI 1.40m Welcome Speed class was the largest to date. The 1.40m track was designed by FEI Level 3 course designer Mauricio Garcia (PUR). Garcia is an accomplished international grand prix rider. He has assisted at the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas (2005, 2007, 2016), Pan American Games (2003, 2007, 2011), the Olympic Games (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2016) and has built at numerous world-class venues such as Hickstead, Spruce Meadows, Kentucky Horse Park, the Winter Equestrian Festival, The Oaks and Tryon.

Olympian Daniel Bluman Returns to TerraNova Equestrian Center to Win the $77,300 FEI 1.45m Grand Prix Presented by Arthramid Vet

Bernardo Costa Cabral, an FEI Level 4 Course Designer from Lisbon, Portugal, designed the tracks contested by 33 horses and riders. In April, Cabral will design the courses for the FEI World Cup™ Finals Omaha 2023.

Myakka City, Fla. – Feb. 17, 2023 – TerraNova Hunter/Jumper Week 1 international competition kicked off with the FEI jog with all 36 horses presented to the ground jury passing inspection. The day's feature class, the $10,000 FEI 1.40m Welcome Speed, was designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral, an FEI Level 4 Course Designer from Lisbon, Portugal. Cabral has designed courses for the $350,000 HITS Thermal CSI5* Grand Prix, Royal Windsor Horse Show CSI 5*, National Championships of Chile, Split Rock Jumping Tour and many other CSI5*, 4* and 3* courses in over nine countries. Spectators gathered in the TerraNova Pavilion for a Grand Prix Brunch. An even 20 top horse-and-rider combinations took to the track, set by Mauricio Garcia (PUR), but it was Ocala resident Kristen VanderVeen and Bull Run's Jireh who earned the victory gallop.

Jennifer Alfano and Next Victorious in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at Sarasota Winter Classic, Hosted by TerraNova Equestrian Center

Sarasota Winter Classic’s derby day developed into a sunny, breezy day by the time the shadbelly-clad riders walked the first course. Friday competition featured the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, the $500 Outreach Derby 2’6” and the highly-anticipated $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby as the highlight of the day. Exhibitors and spectators enjoyed a pizza party in the TerraNova pavilion and cheered on the contestants.
